The basics of the ocean you should know. All sorts of things about the sea that you might suddenly wonder about.
|Vol.02|
We can see the movement of the waves, but how is the water in the ocean as a whole moving? Or is it staying in the same place? Are the distant oceans connected to the oceans around us where we live?

A. The ocean takes 2000 years to complete one cycle around the Earth.
The ocean has a "ocean circulationThere is a major current called the "North Atlantic Ocean and Southern Ocean." This current carries seawater cooled in these oceans to lower latitudes, and warm seawater from lower latitudes to higher latitudes.
It travels around the entire Earth at a slow speed of a few centimeters per second.
This vast circulation of both warm and cold water, slowly moving around the world, plays a vital role in maintaining the Earth's mild climate. If this circulation were to stop, it would not only cause global temperature changes of more than 5°C, but also have a significant impact on marine life.
